Pectin improves IBS-D symptoms
We evaluated how pectin, a soluble fiber, could help people with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). In a randomized controlled trial with 87 patients, half received 24 grams of pectin daily while the other half received a placebo.

After six weeks, those who took pectin showed significant improvements in their symptoms, stool consistency, and quality of life. Pectin not only supported healthy gut bacteria, but also balanced inflammation in the gut.

These findings suggest that pectin could be a promising treatment option for IBS-D.
